I've heard they make exceptions but you would have to check your local WIC office and find out for sure. I'm sure they will make an exception with the doctors note.

Contact your local WIC nutritionist. He/She will be able to tell you what to do about the formula and give you tips on how to transition your baby to the new formula and what to do if your baby needs a new formula.
In order for your baby to be switched to a new formula that is not contracted by WIC, the baby has to have a valid medical reason to be switched to a non-contracted formula.
Enfamil and Similac are almost identical in composition and nutrients. In most cases, babies can switch between the two formulas without any problems. I would keep offering her the new formula. After a good try, usually 3 days of offering a new formula most babies will take it without problems.
I hope this helps. Good Luck to you and your little one.

WIC requires a specific condition to switch from the normal formula they give and just not liking it won't be a good enough reason I think. My niece was colic and had acid reflux and she had to have a report basicly on her condition and then they gave my sister the equivlent MONEY amount for the new formula. It was more expensive, so she ended up paying a lot more out of pocket. Also, my daughter got a rare condition called H. Pylori bacteria and she needed to swtich also. My WIC office wanted TWO doctor's opinions on why she needed the other formula and had to update it every month (instead of every 3 months) and again we go so much less because it costed more, we payed a lot out of pocket. Good Luck though!

I got enfamil w/iron for my son from wic and he was fussy and they told me to get a script from the doc to change it. Maybe they don't offer it in your area but it seems a little strange to me. I think you should talk to your doctor. Maybe your baby needs soy formula? I don't know but this is important as they have to eat. Try talki
ng to someone different at the WIC office.

You will have to call the wic office. Is it regular enfamil or is she on a special diet formula? I can't imagine they will do it since regular formula is not ordered by prescription.

I've worked in WIC offices in CA and in FL. In CA, they would issue any other formula (pretty much) with a Dr.'s prescription. In FL, they seem much stricter about when they give out other formulas. I would go to your WIC office and ask in person. If you plead your case and it's valid (I know not liking the contract formula won't fly) they should be able to accommodate you. Good luck!

Yes, you need to take the prescription into the WIC office and they will give you new vouchers for the Enfamil. My baby was lactose intolerant and I was able to switch my vouchers to accommodate his diet with his pediatrician's prescription.

In my state yes, WIC will give you whatever your Dr. says. Just take your note into WIC and see what they say, or call your office and ask them:)

In iowa they give you enfamil and if you have a doctors note for special formula than it should be fine and they should give you checks with that formulas name on it.
