Use a simple operating system or simplify the one you have. Run only what you must. Run only the programs you actually need and use. Like the others said, Maximize all ram and hard drive space. De-frag the hard-drive. Run the fastest processor your system board will support. Use a dedicated sound card and a dedicated graphics/video card. Don't waste your processor time on the sound and graphics.

Too check wich services you need, and the msconfig uncheck unecesary applications, uninstall the stupid toolbars, if you have norton change it for AVG it use less resources

Do not keep your hard disk full, erase temporary files, defragment your system once a month, remove spywares and virus maybe... sometime i have a problem with the printer pool if you leave documents in the print quee and don´t print them...

if you have a graphic card that this one have the right configuration the producer drivers not the microsoft one's

One way is to get programs out of your startup by using "msconfig". Type "msconfig" into the Start/Run box. Use the Startup tab figure out what you need running at startup and disabling the rest. Or you could just get more memory. Use Crucial Technology's memory advisor tool to figure out what you need.

1. Add RAM.
2. Keep the disk drive(s) defragged and chkdsk'ed.
3. Keep desktop uncluttered.

These are the most obvious answers.

Clean up disk errors, Remove temporary files, Optimize [defrag] your data, Install anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.

But you lose your guarantee if you overclock...

Otherwise you could use software boosters,
and at least optimize the BIOS settings...

turn off any programs you don't need from start up, reduce the colour settings, turn off wallpaper, turn off all fancy button graphics and shadows on cursors etc, all these things use processor power.

get a degree in computer tec .... get a good job..... pay some 12 yr old to keep your pc game ready
