After I have the baby and after the doctor says it OK I am planning on starting a postpartum exercise routine at the gym at my apartment complex which is usualy empty. And I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on wether it would be a good idea to take the baby with me. And just let her sleep in her carseat while I do my thing. I wouldnt be feeding her or changing her in the gym as soon as she started crying I would take her sraight home. Just seems like theyre might be bacteria or something bad for her at the gym, even if she stays in her car seat and shes far away from the machine. I am going to ask my doctor when I take her for a check up but Iam only 29 weeks pregnant

It should be fine. I would recommend putting her in a stroller instead. This way she would be less likely to get tripped over. I take my 6 month old to the gym everyday. I push her in a stroller and we go running on the track. Also, you should never leave your baby to sleep in a car seat. A baby recently died near where I live. She was left in a car seat to sleep and the straps cut off her airway. I guess you could always unbuckle her while you are at the gym, but that's not real safe either. My baby was left unbuckled and I didn't know she was left that way. I went to lift her carseat and she fell out and landed on her head. She was 2 months old. We spent that night at the hospital, luckily she was ok. To be on the safe side, place your child in a stroller away from equipment when you go to the gym. Your baby should be fine.

I think she'll be fine. I see women at the gym all the time with their baby in a carseat. Most of the babies sleep right through it. Just feed before you go, so you have the most time possible until the next feeding.

I personally wouldn't suggest it, because of possible bacteria...and especially because, there have been reported news stories that warn parents against allowing their children sleep in carseats. If you can get a babysitter to take her for the time you're at the gym, it would probably be best....I know from experience that you get into a zone while exercising, and looking after your baby while doing it will take your focus off of what you're doing.

I can see why this would have crossed your mind. Gyms are dirty with sweat flying around. Some people on here are just rude. Anyways I think that this would be fine. If there is never anyone in there then go for it. Like you said you will not be changing her in there so............ Taking your child out and exposing her to the outside world builds immune so go for and have fun. Good luck with that work out! (makes me tired just thinking about it)

i know u said its a room with just exercise equipment, if this is a professional establishment they may have rules about babies in the gym. my gym does.
as long as the room allows it, i see no problem with it. don't worry about the germs because these things are everywhere. the dr's office has more germs than the gym. just make sure u wash ur hands (always) before handling the baby. in fact keep a sanitizer handy and have everyone wash their hands before carrying her while she is a newborn.

I don't see a problem with taking the baby as long as you keep an eye on it and don't set it in the way of anyone else doing their thing. My boss(I work at a pizza parlor in my town) has a baby and when his wife is up there working with them they bring the baby and sit him in his carseat ON TOP OF the deep freeze and the baby just sits there lookin around and sleepin and jus doin his thing. So I don't see a problem with it.

Take her with you. There is no reason not to. besides if you have it timed correctly, with her sleep cycles and all she could just sleep through the whole workout. Also most of the bigger gyms have a daycare that you can use. Cheers

I dont see how it could hurt..i know some women who use them "not having time" as an excuse when it comes to them losing weight after a pregnancy...you should do it, otherwise that weight will turn into more weight then next thing you know youre on Maury Povich.."Obese Moms"
