At two separate place where I am seeking employment, they asked me to take a personality test. No biggie. But instead of just the personality trait answers I was expecting, there were also analogies and actual math questions. Were they testing my personality or my intelligence?

Both. They wanted to test your analytical skills and common sense as well as your personality and ethical attitude.

In any job you need basic math skills and they want to make sure you have them.
