Operations are not gory...they are real life.
I used to work as a Technician in operating theatres and although you do see some sights...these are only of concern if they are bad infections and such like. The beating human heart is a curiously relaxing thing to watch and the bright reds and oranges of the open body are comforting once you have seen the dull greys and purples of a post mortem.
No...surgery is not gory, it is just human life as it is.

I used to working in an operating theatre, doing elective orthopaedics ie hips and knees replacements and the odd bit of trauma - I loved it! It never once bothered me even when suffering from a hangover!!
I'm doing my nurse training now, on an elderly ward currently, oh my gosh - giving mouthcare to someone who has a build up of mucus etc - EUGH!!
Erm as to the films, yeh I can be bit squeamish but only with something OTT like The Saw!

I've watched surgeries and autopsies, but no I don't like horror movies or accidents. It may be the fact that I figure sugeries are for the good of the person and needed. I look at those with the intent purpose of wanting to learn. That may be what makes the difference. In other words I get so wrapped up in wanting to know something the blood and guts don't bother me.

Never had the opportunity to see an actual operation. I would love to watch one, I think it would be fascinating.

I'm fine with both of those. It's the ritualistic killings to our lord Satan I find difficult to take. Especially the spleen eating. yuck.
