5 * 7 times a number
the n is a variable
for a number
so divide 385 by 7
which is 55 so far you should have 5*n=55
then divide by 5
which gives you 11
so n=11

* The "n" represents an unknown number/value that we need to find.
First: multiply "like" terms > 5*7
35n = 385
Sec: solve for "n" by keeping it on one side > divide both sides by 35 >
35n/35 = 385/35

I'm going to assume that the 'x' means times... you should really use a *... n is 11 if that is the case. if 'x' is a variable, then 385/35x^2 or (eleven over 'x' squared)

The 'n' is a variable. It means there is some value that can be assigned to 'n' that will make that equation true. Your problem is finding out what that value is.
