i don't know if it's true or not. people have only been keeping track of the earth's temeratures and stuff like that for like a couple hundred years. so the people that say "earth is becoming a dry rock" might be wrong? because for all we know, the earth could've been doing this for the past 5,000 years, and we could just be going through a phase, and then it could go back to normal. example: if people from another earth came (just assume) in about october, they would realize that it's getting colder by the day. they would say, "oh no! we will freeze to death! it is getting colder by the day!" but what they don't know is that spring is coming & it will be warm again. so is that how the earth could be? but in a lot slower process? that's my idea. what do you think about it? (no stupid remarks. if ya think this question is dum, then don't answer it.)

Well, I won't say for myself just yet. However, Santa Claus, God, and Al Gore have been known to support all theories on the subject...

Global warming is indeed happening, but the big question is focused on why it is happening.

It's true that humans have only been recording temperature for so long; however, archaelogists, paleotologists, etc etc use clues from the past to find out what kinda of temperatures the earth had thousands upon thousands of years ago. They've reconstructed climate models, and they have a pretty good idea of the major climate shifts.

It is highly likely that industry, emissions from cars, incineration, etc is causing a global increase in temperature. No one can be 100% sure. The only sensible thing to do however is to treat it like we're really causing it, and to try to do something about it just in case we are causing it.

But then again it could be a random wobble of the earth in orbit. It's better to be safe than to be sorry though.

Global warming is sketchy at best. Below is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing the temperature change from 1880 to 2005. Since 1880 the earth's temperature has risen less than 7/10 of 1 degree C. See for yourself here: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif

There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. The fact that people choose to ignore the facts of these charts shows that they have an agenda to convince the masses of something that really is not happening.

In fact here's a link to a secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer in the past than it is today.
http://www.msu.edu/course/isp/203/raeburn_old/fulltext/class9.pdf

And here's an article from a Harvard University study that says: "Such claims have now been sharply contradicted by the most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years. A review of more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.
The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.

The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today."

I hope that helps...

How can anyone not believe in it. It's become a scientific fact.
They didnt photoshop that hole in the ozone.
They didnt make up the amount of glaciers in antartica that have melted. Actually this week the largest chunk of glacier in history broke off of Antartica.
(not to mention it's 71 degrees today in DC during jan.)
Theyre expecting it to be too warm in traditionally cold places for some animals to live. The prediction is the extinction of polar bears in 25-50 years.

The earth may be going through a warm phase. But its due to global warming. The Earth will heal itself eventually, like with earlier environments and ice ages. But i'd still prefer if humans werent as extinct as the dinosaurs became during the last drastic climate change.

Global warming is not in question. Most scientists agree that it is happening. The question is WHY is it happening? Some scientists think it is a normal cycle that the earth is going through. Others think humans are the cause due to harm we've done to the environment, specifically the atmosphere. I've seen Al Gore's movie and although it was not 100% accurate, it really did explain the phenomenon in a way it easily can be understood. I recommend checking it out.

Global warming is a fact. And it's happening for a number of reasons. First all the chloroflourocarbons (CFCs) we put and are still putting in the air caused a hole in the ozone layer over the south pole that made the earth get warmer temperatures than usual because the ozone layer keeps the radiation from the sun out of the earth, and with that damaged, radiation is getting in and not only has it caused the temps to get warmer it has made major areas of ice to come off Antartica.

Secondly, the pollution from not only third world countrys but the also US factories have made a layer of air that prevents the radiation from getting out, called the greenhouse effect. So temps will continue to rise if we don't stop polluting our world. And if we don't stop allowing chloroflourocarbons (CFCs) to enter the atmosphere the hole in the ozone will soon get unrepairable.

Scary huh?

If you DON'T believe in global warming--clap your hands! Like fairies, soon that will be the only way to keep alive the theory that global warming is not a fact.
ALL scientists, except those willing to lie for the sake of big business, agree that it IS happening and mankind is responsible.
Do you doubt that scientists will lie? Look to the tobacco industry. Look to the oil industry's suppression of electric cars (see the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car") Watch "An Inconvenient Truth". I know, it gets boring in parts-- but the science is accurate and it IS happening. And it IS scary... and we darn well better correct somethings right now or we will be living in a very difficult and different world.

not really. I think there may be a tiny bit, but i'm more for the idea that this is just a natural phase for the earth. It cooled down a ton (ice age) and now it is heating back up

Yes I think Global warming is very much becoming a reality. The polar ice caps just lost 17 more inches just recently.
