or using very little of it. I put a screen room on my deck. The contracter said the deck would last providing that it wasn't exposed to alot of direct water. It hasn't been. I have got a new puppy who has made a mess out there, though and it needs a good scrubbing. The deck is painted and sealed as well.

You can make a paste with borax and very little water, agitate with a brush into the spot, let it dry (you can use a fan to expedite this, but not blowing directly on the spot) and then vacuum up the dried remaining borax. This will not only clean up the mess, but will deoderize the spot as well and not damage the wood. Plus, removing the odor will keep your new pet from "using" the spot again.

In my opinion, the amount of water needed to clean it wouldn't amount to "a lot of" direct water. You might contact the contractor for clarification.
