Hello,
I've never been sporty and am only moderately fit but am looking to start a new sport which will keep me fit and also have a good social / team side. Any ideas please?

Badminton and tennis are great sports that you can play for life because there is a skill element that will stand you in good stead against younger and fitter players later on.
There is also a good social aspect associated to these sports.
If you have never played before, start with badminton and then move onto tennis. Tennis is more skillful and athletic...but for my money..the best participation sport in the world.

Badminton,
One of the biggest sports in the UK, people of all ages play (I play in a court next to a guy with one leg!). It's cheap, there are lots of clubs (but you don't NEED to be in one to play) and there is a good social scene.

WallyBall... Do a search, and you'll find it. It's an indoor game, similar to volleyball and is usually played co-ed. If you are looking to socialize as well, this is a great game for that!

Golf be best,, Not to enegetic, but 18holes= about 4.5m walk, that is if you hit straight, you can join your local club so social side also

Coed soccer leagues. You don't need a lot of talent and you get to meet new people. Most important you get some exercise.
Kickball leagues are also becoming popular.

Dominoes, darts or pool, all really good games and you get to sit in the pub all day. lol
