It really is not a word I use and on the rare occasion I have it was to express extreme distaste. . .and when my son's have used it I've told them that words have energy. . .and that "hate" is a very strong word and should not be tossed around lightly.
But, that's just me. . .many throw it around with little or no problem.

No, not all the time. If I want to emphasize a negative thought, I couple 'hate' with a few other ugly words, like the stuff listed above: 'abhor,' 'despise,' etc.

I also say it a lot when I'm stressed out or doing something I ha -- uh, dislike. =D

For the most part, I realize that I'd used the word incorrectly five freakin' hours later and I feel horrible. Saying the word is a habit that I'm trying to kick out.

Not really. When it does slip out, for me it means that I really dislike something. I don't like to use the word hate that often because hate is not productive. Another time I tend to use it though is when I'm joking around about something that is a silly annoyance. I'll say "I hate that when that happens!", but that's just in jest. Overall I take that word very seriously and try not to use it.

Hate is a strong word! I am much more wary about using it than I am about F-Bombs. So, it doesn't slip out. If I say it, I mean it.

I truly don't like to use that word , but like anything else I sometimes do slip . I guess I mean strongly dislike .
When it comes to people I don't hate anyone , I do however strongly dislike their behavior sometimes .

no,

i say i "I hate" all the time. which im not proud of. like ill say.. Man i hate it when i cant find my shoe. that just means i dislike it when i cant find my shoe. althought i say it alot i never say it to a person before. i dont think i ever hated a person. i dont use it right. Hating a person takes too much effort and you find yourself thinking about them, not in a nice way. so i dont think i ever felt that way towards a person :0) this was another useless answer from me. enjoy

When I say "hate", I generally mean I dislike intensely. If I really truly hate, I tend to use the word "despise".

no. i really never use that word--i just get a negative feeling from even saying it because to me it has such strong connotations. but, being human, if it does slip, i don't mean it--i would mean to say i strongly dislike something. to me, hate implies malice.

No I just say the word to hurt someone. Never really mean it.

Usually I only mean "dislike." I do not reserve the word "hate" for cases in which I REALLY STRONGLY *MEAN* "hate."
