What compressed files? Those compressed by Windows XP to save space? Those placed on the drive during operating system installation?

Hard drives are not as expensive as they used to be. Adding a larger drive and using a tool such as Ghost to mirror your current drive installation on the new larger drive is usually the better way to go about it. This avoids any headaches should you delete a file that is needed by the operating system for one reason or another.

Go to www.diskcleaner.nl and download their disk cleaning software. It does a great job of getting rid of the huge amounts of temp files, pre-fetch files, temporary internet files, blah blah blah. I use it frequently and I keep my drive defragged.
