For example a 67year old from Italy has recently given birth to, I think, twins. What do you have a view on it?

No. For God's sake call it a day already. I had to have fertillity treatment in my late 20s. If I'd got to 40 I think I would have accepted what nature was trying to tell me. 50 is too old. Just because we can do things, doesn't mean we should. The sooner we realise this the better.

Due to ageing population, there are in fact a lot of late 50's to 60's people who are still having children, through IVF or not.

Although these days a lot of it is considered normal, i still feel slightly against having children at such a late age. Taking your example, when those kids are 20, their mum will be 87 years old and will most likely not even be alive. That mum may not even see those children grow up properly, see them get jobs, get married, have children or even grandkids.

And being that the mother is 67, thats near the age that most people go into retirement, how can you be sure that she can get enough pension to even afford financially to look after the twins?

I have nothing against IVF, but was it for a good cause? Did she have those children because she wanted to? Or was it for medical reasons and that she couldn't conceive naturally?

The twins may even have mental health problems due to having an old mother, they may get teased in school and may even become mentally distressed because of so many people mistaking their mum for a grandmother, their life may not be normal.

Of course people are willing to take these risks, and people manage to achieve a good, healthy normal life despite difficulties. Good luck to anyone who is an older mother, really.

Maybe in some women's lives they have been trying for many years to conceive. And at the same time didn't have enough money to pay to have invitro down. Now they are at a place in their lives to be able to pay for these procedures, so why not? It isn't really any of our business to judge when a woman has a baby? Look at all the young women that have babies that cant care for themselves yet a baby. I just dont feel that I'm in a position to judge anyone for anything.

I think nature gives us a cut off point of roughly 50 for a reason. It is selfish of women of over this to have children. I can sympathise with someone who has lost their child or children in terrible circumstances, but those that just want to give a younger husband a family, it is unacceptable. There are lots of older children in this country and others that would benefit from adoption, so this would probably be a better option - although not at 67 either way.

My personal view is that if you do not become pregnant naturally there is a good reason for that and you should respect your body. I think more people should consider adoption, there are lots of babies that need homes.
Also having babies whne you are older has a lot of disadvantages for the child so if someone was to do it I think they should go to the gym, eat healthily and refrain from smoking and drinking to make sure they are as fit and healthy as possible.
On the other hand I have not been in that position myself so I don't know how hard it is. I respect anyones decision to do whatever they want.

50 is possible naturally, so fair enough. 67 - no, no, no.
And that applies to men as well as women as far as I'm concerned. I nearly dropped off my perch when Julio Iglesias's old dad had a kid with his latest wife. SO crazy and irresponsible.

Why not? Whats wrong with it? If they want to have the baby themselves, let them. She's got a stable job, insurance, stable relationship with her partner. I'm more upset about the 15 year olds having babies than I am about mature women having children.

I am staunchly in favor of women having the right to do with their bodies what they will. Even if that includes birthin' babies.

It may be right for the woman but not for the kids. Selfish, selfish, selfish to have a child so late that you won't be around to raise it.
