I'm no expert on exercise but most people recommend you work out only 3 - 4 times a week, and not usually in a row. This gives your muscles at least a little time to repair. You'll find that if you continue to work out every day and your muscles are continually sore, you can do less and less reps because your muscles haven't repaired. But if you wait a day or so, you will actually see some improvement. Again, I'm no expert, but that's what I've found works for me.

I personally workout each body part a day. I like to concentrate specifically on that particular body part. Day one I do chest, Day two I do back, Day three is a rest day, Day four I do shoulders, Day five I do tris and bis and Day six is legs. This only a suggestion and everybody is different, so you have to adjust what works for you, and that's the beauty of workin out, you learn your body and see the results of what you have learned. If you want to gain weight, good weight that is, I would suggest lots of protein, in any form, i.e. eggs, chicken, tuna, powder, etc... Start using Creatine to help add strength and weight. Make sure you are takin a daily vitamin. If you really want to gain good weight, you'll need to start eating 6 meals everyday, about 2-3 hours apart. It sounds tough, but once your body adjust to it, it's ok. Hope this helped a little. Good luck.

if you work out while you're still sore, it builds muscle mass, as the already fatigued, and slightly tattered muscles are forced to repair even more. If you're doing high reps/low weight, you're probably going for toning rather than building, but either way, its a good idea, as it will ultimately force your muscles to build more, as long as you are doing it responsibly, hydrating, and stretching before and after. You'll find that, after awhile, you can do a strenuous workout session every day without feeling sore at all, as your muscles get accustomed to the excersize.

Let your muscles mend. Take a break. If you work out muscles that are sore, you could tear the muscle tissue and ligaments. Always warm up a little, stretch, then do the main workout. After that, more stretching. Make sure to replace the water you've lost during the workout with water. Keep yourself hydrated.

Give at least three days off to any muscle groups worked on High reps many times guess your working cardio and trying to firm up do some walking or jogging on days off from weights legs can be worked out 4-5 times a week cause it a mucsle group that is stronger and used to being heavily used everyday.

You are only half doing it. Working out without taking protein after will not build muscle...and lead to lactic acid soreness.
Don't work out the same muscle group every day.
Day 1 Chest & Triceps
Day 2 Legs Abs and Calves
Day 3 Back and Biceps
Day 4 Shoulders Abs and Calves
Repeat

Hello, Yes it is okay to work out today. I work out every other day and if i am sore then i work threw the pain. My husband told me when i first started to work out that if you hurt the next day wait until the following day and then your body will know that you will be working threw the pain. You are suppose to work out every other day not every day. You need to pace yourself and the days you don't work out do something else like walk on a treadmill or lift light weights or just take a walk.

In order for the muscle to heal and grow, you need to skip a day. I used to work out everyday so I found the best idea was to do cardio everyday and then alternate muscle groups. I did legs, lower body and abs one day and switched to arms, upper body such as back and chest the next. It will give each group a day of rest and build. Most trainers will recommend the same.

Yes its OK to work out if you still feel sore from the last time. My trainer used to tell me that it would allow oxygen into my muscles and actually help them not feel as sore. Good Luck :)

Yes, get back in there. Sore is good, hurting is bad. Being sore is normal and will work out after a few sessions. If it hurts, like a pull or tear, then wait.
