I am receiving junk text messages on my cell phone at the rate of five messages a day, and being charged $0.10/msg. I don't know who is sending me these messages. The messages do have different sender's name for each message and the number is like 1010100083 and this number increments by one with each new message. How can I find out who is sending me these messages? Is there a way to stop this without blocking my text messaging service? An interesting thing to note is this started happening after a friend of mine had sent me a text message from an internet website. I don't know the name of the website.

I contacted Cingular and they said they can't help except for just block the text messaging service. I wasn't very keen on getting it blocked entirely. Do I have any other options?

Any help is appreciated.

So I sent a response back to the sender with subject: Unsubscribe and body: Unsubscribe. The message bounced back containing some foreign language text and had these in there.

mta-gwl.europronet.ba

taipk.members.epn.ba

is02.europronet.ba

vgpps@nexe.ba

korisnik@nexe.ba

Now I'm going to try sending other message with STOP. Thank you all.

Sent another response with subject: Stop Cancel Remove and message body: Stop Cancel Remove.

That message also bounced back with this information:

will@ClydesTire.com

66.102.165.8

I sent an email back to Cingular with all this info. Received yet another junk message today so planning to give them a call tonight. Thank you all.

1st, once the text charges show up on the invoice, the Cingular rep can fill out a form for that company to remove you. The easiest way is to do it yourself, when you recieve the unwanted text, reply back with 3 words
STOP
CANCEL
REMOVE
within seconds you will recieve another text confirming that you have been removed from the service. Also, when you get your Cingular bill, call customer service, tell them what happened and they will remove the charges from your bill. Hope this helps
EDIT: I just saw your additional comments, you have to text back all 3 words
Stop
Cancel
Remove
Almost all the companys use 1 out of those 3 words. if you just text back STOP, you have a 1 out of 3 chance of it being correct
Cheers

the text message is more than likely coming from a third party company. if you go to your provider they can look at your bill and tell you what company it is coming from. whenever you recieve another "junk message" reply STOP to it. your friend might have accidentally subscribed you to a company that will not stop sending the messages. they dont care if you dont recieve the message or not. also its possible to get a refund for the extra charges that they have caused.

Contact your service provider. They will credit the messages and put a stop to it at their end. Been there, done that. Also, register the phone number with the do not call list.

I would call back and get another rep they can track where the texting is coming from in the billing and try cutting down on downloading on your phone good luck

first of all that change into the stupidest component think about performed. They deliver you txt each of the time and it runs your bill up like $30. yet many of the time you may make it end by txting lower back end and if it doesnt artwork then you truthfully might want to favor to call your telephone organization and ask them to get it stoped.
