Most U.S. band are pretty waterdowned (every dumb emo band out there) with the exception of a few (killers, interpol, cold war kids, etc)

i'm from texas not England and i agree that indie and underground bands are gaining in sales and demand but i just think that in England they are have a more technical and crisp sound even coming from their "garage bands", which should have more of a distortion sound

OK I'm sorry to be picky but I feel the need to point out that the country is called Britain or the UK. It's made up of four (sub)countries - Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England. Unless of course you mean England specifically in which case I apologise for this ramble.
I don't agree with your statement. There i some great music from here yes but I really love a lot of great music from th US. The two countries would be awesome musical rivals if it wasn't for the fact that they work together so well. it's one of the few good things they do together these days.
PS we have that awful emo scene too. Far gone from the good old days of Emocore.

Yeah, look at the history of music. Though we've put out some good acts (Sinatra, Springsteen, Dylan,) I must admit that Jolly Old Londontown has us beat. Congrats. (Stones, Beatles, Floyd, Zepplin)
Now lets consider your music source. Emo. Yeah, it blows. The only people that listen to emo are teenagers who hang out at shopping malls and don't indentify with anyone else. It's going to go the same way of rap metal did in a year, fall completely off. Just watch. Whats you next argument? Nickelback? You think that's the best America has to offer? Hardly. American music has taken to the underground. While cooperate acts are selling more records, Indie bands are gaining more and more respect. Needless to say, you're not reguarly exposed to this being on the other side of the pond.
But you knew all of this becuase you are Brittish and the Brittish know everything. Hoo poo pachoo.

Dear Eric,
I'm Italian , and I can tell that we are very lucky because we choose both!
Anyway I don't think that we can say that British music is better.
Think about all interesting rock/pop group which are still playing in the USA: Counting Crows, Dandy Warhols, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth....
American music is not rubbish...
probably there is a less pop traidition. English music is mostly oriented towards an easy listening sensation.
Nice your question anyway!
Thanks.
Bye!

Simon (from Milan).

I agree. All of my favorite artists are British! Number one spot, for me, goes to Gorillaz.
