I need to get a cell phone for someone..as a b-day present. I'm looking for one which would work with PREPAID CARDS, not contract. There are soo many products and offers out there..which one would you recommend?

I'm looking for:
-cheap (simple features, no bluetooth, mp3 player or built-in camera)
-good carrier/service
-low one-time setup fee

You need to pick the service first, since the choice of phones will be limited to those which work with a given service.

Consumer Reports Online recently posted an article on picking cell phones and services. They don't specifically review pre-paid services, but the article does offer a lot of pointers on making a selection, including ratings on service in various communities. The article is currently free (open to nonsubscribers) at http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/electronics-computers/cell-phones-service/cell-phone-service-1-07/overview/0107_serve_ov_1.htm?resultPageIndex=1&resultIndex=5&searchTerm=prepaid%20cell . There's also a "Cell Phone Decision Guide" on that site, which also looks to be open-access: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/electronics-computers/cell-phones-service/index.htm

Personally, I use Virgin Mobile prepaid and am very pleased.

I would recommend a phone from Cingular. They have excellent service, good customer support, and coverage over most of the U.S. There go-phones come work with prepaid cards, and have many features including stylish design and built in cameras.

All of the major carriers have prepaid plans. Also try Virgin Mobile.

I like going to Hobby Lobby and making my own shirts. I made my own tie-dye shirts and ones with funny designs and sayings like a big brown puffy sayring "she farted not me, this is how I always smell". And people usually say "WHA" and then I just be silent. Ultimately, just be yourself and wear tshirts you like. Just google "coolest tshirt ever" and you will see some neat stuff.
