This did not happen with my first son. My second son is a hiccup monster! I burp him thoroughly and he still gets the hiccups. Anything you can suggest as to why this may be happening?

try burping him higher up on the back. With kids positioning of the hands while burping can vary. He might still have bubble guts from all that milk.

Babies tend to hiccup a lot. When my son was in PICU, I asked if it was okay that he was always hiccuping, and one of the nurses explained to me that babies sometimes hiccup when they are cold. It doesn't make sense, I know, but I found it to be true. I'd wrap him up real tight, and he would stop!

I heard that it is because baby is growing, however they are growing whether they get hiccups or not. You'd think that advice came from someone I met in the street, but it was from my health visitor!
My daughter had them ALL the time, seriously- I was a little over enthusiastic with the camcorder and in every shot of my daughter she was hiccupping.
It's just one of those things.

My son got the hiccups all the time, but my daughter never did.
It's nothing to worry about. I asked my pediatrician about it at the time, and she said the baby feels no pain or discomfort, it won't hurt him, and he'll outgrow it eventually. My son did, probably by the time he was 4 months old.

Their diaphram muscle is not fully developed yet.
