1) Make sure that the power cable and the cable from the monitor-to-computer is connected. Then press the power button on the monitor AND computer.

2) If that does not help, then shake the monitor a little; if possible.

3) If that doesn't help, then it could be your video card. If the video card is busted, then the computer can't send or receieve video stuff from or to other devices.

4) Try connecting your monitor to another computerl if possible.

5) Or try connecting another monitor to the computer.

6) If none of these help, then your only choice is to buy a new monitor.

7) To buy a new monitor, you can go to www.froogle.com and search for monitors and select a price range.

8) I would recommend that you go to www.hp.com and purchase a new HP monitor, since they have the best computer products; as far as I have known.

Good luck!

Usually if you have a generic computer that you bought from dell or something then your computer most likely doesnt have a graphics card just something called onboard video, so if that is the case i would buy a cheap graphics card, Like said before i would check the connections first, I fix comps all day and you have no idea how many times thats happened to me.

This may sound like a smart *** answer, but have you made certain that your computer screen is on? Or plugged in completely?
You would be amazed at the many times this happens and no one thinks to check the connections!

Make sure that the monitor is hooked up to your computer properly. Make sure it is on. Sometimes you might need to install the driver for the monitor.
