It really depends on your needs for your laptop. If you want one for music, movies, photos, and internet.Because you will need a good procceser, good video card, BIG RAM(1gb). It will be around $1000 for a descent one. Wait though for a vista upgraded one. That will save you from a lot of trouble.

Nope, not EVEN! A top of the line Lenovo Thinkpad, and an Alienware tricked out like you asked about (A REALLY good laptop, no?) will each run better than $3000 at retail. If you want Apple's best, add a few hundred more. People that say a GOOD laptop costs $1000 are using AVERAGE laptops, which are decent, but not stellar in performance. As to which is the BEST laptop, it is largely a matter of personal preference.

I would say on average to expect about a thousand. I got mine from a Dell dealer, though, and it was much cheaper. Basically, Dell makes X number of computers everyday, so that people that call in or byu online can have them shipped immediately. If they don't sell that number online or by phone that day, they send the extras to authorized Dell dealers for a reduced rate, then the dealer can charge as they please... The guy I found is retired and just does this for fun... You may find something like that in your area. Otherwise, shop around, be sure that you are getting the best deal. Christmas and back to school are the best times, because they put them on sale. Good luck! â¥

for a really good one you should expect something around $1000...but you can get a decent one for as low as $650-700. i would recommend a dell (they're very reliable computers) and if you get it online you can customize it however you want =) that and they always tend to have specials when you buy stuff online. good luck!
