During her trip to Africa to build the Oprah Winnfrey school for girls she had on a gown and the children were all in uniform and looked miserable in all the pictures with her. Ok so she doesnt have to be like Angelina Jolie but wearing a gown down the dusty streets in the village??? She also had on diamond earrings. Does she not know that hundreds of african men are being killed or having their hands cut off because of the diamond industry in Africa? She makes me want to puke.

While I will admit that Oprah does, and has done a great deal of good throughout the years, as her fame grows, so does her need to be all about what she's doing. There are those who have also had a rough life, who also have done great charitable things - but their names are not in the headlines because they do not have an ego attached to their acts.
She built a school - nice. I have a friend who is running a small school in Haiti, literally risking her life at times. She does it because she loves the children, and looks upon it as her calling - and you won't see her in People or on 20/20 with Barbara.
Even at the amount of money she put into that school and all that's gone into it's preparation, she could do that a hundred times over and still have millions left.
She has become all about herself. She has no sense of what being humble is. And, unfortunately, she is who so many poeple idolize. It's sad, really.

You must really not know what Oprah has been through. Along with the men in africa getting abused, the girls in Africa are getting raped everyday, they are having their vaginas sewn shut because their parents died of AIDS, they are getting their breast cut off because they were breastfeeding at the wrong place and time. Oprah herself was raped and abused when she was younger. Plus she paid for that school to be built from the ground up out of her own pocket and she's building another school for both boys and girls in a different part of africa. You really need to do some research before you put a stupid question on here.
Oh and to answer your question, No she doesnt act like she's better than everyone else, She is always giving and giving because she has the money to give.

Go read something

Yes I feel that she thinks she's better than the rest of us. She may have grown up in extreme poverty and claims that she'll never forget where she came from but she seems to have forgotten a whole lot. She doesn't even drive herself around most times! The road trip with Gale was one of the few times she's driven. She wears all these fancy clothes and you're right, she looked way too dressed up surrounded by the little crowd of girls that she chose for the school. She acts like an expert on everything and rarely ever has new shows. It's always someone elses show but she's giving it light (extreme makeover, while you were out, trading spaces, etc.)

I really don't see her acting better than anyone else but she does have a bad habit of interrupting her guests when they are trying to talk.

I think she is a bit overrated, but I do like her. I just don't usually watch her show any longer because I like Ellen.

Oprah is a wonderful actress and a great humanitarian and deserves all the money she has made. She has made Dr. Phil a household word as well as Rachel Ray. (I did not say that was a good thing), just a fact.

I guess I can understand your point with regards to how Oprah may come across to the public. But you have to remember - WE DON'T KNOW HER PERSONALLY. So what you are perceiving is just that - your perception.

The fact that she got dressed up for the "ribbon cutting ceremony" for her girls school - was perfectly acceptable. I think you are being a little harsh.

But that is why we love America right -

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. However, I believe that Oprah wants to inspire not only women but men to be better than herself in much the same way that Christ Jesus did when he said that we would work greater miracles than he did. And if you did a bit of research on the subject you'd find that those who are being killed for diamonds are mining them for militants looking to support their illegal operations.

Oprah comes on so giving yet it her TV production company , Harpo that demands HUGE money from the networks. the networks then demand double that huge fee to carry the signal to our cable. Hence huge cable rates and a very RICH Oprah.

That's hypocrosy for ya. Oprah does a lot of good but she does it annoyingly. Oprah could own half of the world and she knows it, which makes her seem so pompous.

But, Angie Jolie is a whore. So, maybe Oprah's a little better....... sometimes?

I see the green monster is alive and well on the subject of Oprah.

Of course, she acts like she is better than everybody else, because she is.
If you were as stinking rich as she is, you would also turn into a self-absorbed, self-righteous, self-promoting and pompous snob. Just seeing the cover of O magazine in the supermarket makes me puke. How self-adoring can a person be? I am waiting for her to announce the Church of Oprah.
Only thing you can do: stop watching her garbage TV show and don't buy any trash she promotes.
