I am a business professional with an extensive sports background. Having lived in many states, I have had the same experience when applying for coaching positions at the high school level... The schools prefer to hire someone from within the school district even though they do NOT want to coach. I have received the same response every time: "We have hired a teacher from within for the position?"

Perhaps you should build your coaching experience by volunteering with a community group like a YMCA league or a church after school program. This will certainly make you more attractive to schools. Also, consider volunteering to assist or run special sessions for a coach at a local high school. This will give you a chance to meet people on the inside and more importantly, it will give them a chance to meet you!

Here are some names of some teams here in Holland but there are many more in other country's as well.
