Maybe it is a time machine awaiting lift off?

Usually if a load is off balance, it will also make a washing machine "walk" and make lots of noise. Just stop it and shift the contents around to try and even it out a bit around the barrel.

I really laughed at your question because both mine and my parents sound like 747 jet engines spooling up. I am guessing you have a front loader? The reason is the gearing on the drive motor the engineer has designed the system to uses the weakest smallest motor that will work effectively to get you through the warranty period + say 3 to 5 years on average, better machines will last longer. This little week motor needs to spin very fast to generate enough power so with that high spin rate you get that super sound... actually I rather like it. of course more expensive machines have better built motors that spin just as fast but will last longer...but basically smaller motor smaller overall cost.

Probably because either the machine is unbalanced (try to wiggle it when its empty.. if it rocks around, put something under one corner.. like when you fold up napkins and shove them under a table leg at a restaurant...) Or else maybe the clothes in it are all on one side. Or,... maybe its just old. I had an old machine that was perfectly balanced and the clothes were evenly spread out, but it still sounded like a freaking jet taking off in the laundry room. Good luck!

Either your load is off balance during the spin cycle or you have a possessed machine. More than likely the latter. I had a Maytag that refused all exorcisms, which I was forced to burn in a fiery pit in my backyard. I hope you have lots of lighter fluid or gasoline on hand.

If the contents are not distributed evenly when it goes in the spin cycle it will rattle and rock like craze jest turn it off for a second open rearrange the wet articles more evenly that should solve your problem if not call a repair man something is not right.

It could be that the clothes have shifted, and they unbalanced so that would make the machine do the polka, especially when it is spinning.Try to move the clothes around when this happens and see if it continues. I'm sure this is the problem.

because all the machines are uniting like in terminator 3, the washing machine is just the first one to show signs of it

It may but it does not lift off the ground. It just wiggles around of the floor. Call for repair before it does some more extra-curricular activities.

Mine does it all the time. IF you overstuff it it does it. Or make sure all the side are even. Like don't put too many clothes in one spot. IT makes the sound because it is uneven therefore it rocks.
