I was just wondering if there is a reason that I am having such a heavy period this month compared to other months. I used to have heavy periods, but then I was put on the birth control patch because of my PCOS. It has been a long time since I've had this heavy of a period. I have had unprotected sex a couple times this month. Could I be pregnant even though I am having my period and I am on time, with no previous spotting? Or could I be miscarrying? Or am I just overreacting because I'm paranoid since I always use condoms?

Our periods can fluctuate so it is totally normal to have a heavy period once in a while. If you have a period when pregnant, it is usually very light in amount and of very short duration. If you had gotten pregnant and are experiencing a "missed pregnancy", it would be normal to have a lot of cramping...which you have not mentioned....also, a "missed pregnancy" usually does not happen at the exact time your period is due but a few days or a week later. So, chances are, you are just having an unusual heavy period which can be brought on by messing up on your birth control patch as well (since you stated, I have had unprotected sex a couple times this month",)
