Be honest now, do you talk when you're finished your work? If so, don't give the teachers the chance to get on your case. Just take out something else to do (bring a book with you if you are always finished your homework early). Either that or read ahead in the subjects that you're having problems in so you have an idea of what you'll be doing in class the next day.

As a teacher, I find it hard to believe that they didnt assign homework at the junior high and high school levels. Your story is contradicting. First you said that you finished it while everyone was talking. Then you said the teacher addressed the issue that you never have work to do. So which is it? I think your problem is that you don't like to do work and you wanted to vent in a public forum even though the situation reflects your own stupidity. You showed your stupidity with your final comment. I am reporting the comment.

OMG lots of those people are mean! If you do your work then I don't see what's wrong with the teacher. Some teachers just always have a bug up their but. If you keep your talking quiet maybe the teacher will leave you alone, but if that doesn't work then the only way to stay out of trouble is to not talk. Sorry to sound like the other peoples' echo, but you should probably bring something you like to do so that you won't get in trouble.

There is no law that says you have to go to study hall and do nothing but homework. There are plenty of other things you can and should do to improve yourself. That way you will not have anymore worries about teachers thinking you are a lazy gossip.
For example, when was the last time you went to the library and checked out a good book? Was it the last time you had to write a book report? There is no law that says you can not read a good book without having a homework assignment to write a book report.

When you are finished with your assignments make sure you have a book to read or write a letter to a friend. If you look busy, then you are busy. Use your time wisely.
Do you really think teachers are FAGS THEY MAKE YOUR LIFE STRESSFUL? Then, my job is done! (kidding) I work in Special Education and I do know that some regular education teachers have trouble adjusting their teaching style to support a student with an IEP. Hang in there! ciao, CAKES

Ok, you have a point, but perhaps this study hall is useless for you. You are getting your work finished in short time, which means you probably do not need this extra 'study' period. Talk to your counselor, explain the situation and ask to drop this 'class', see if there are alternatives for that period of time. Don't judge all teachers by the actions of one.

Classrooms, all classrooms, are not the place to talk.
Have you ever thought that it may disturb those who may be trying to think and complete their lesson?

Have you ever considered browsing ahead in your lessons?
You might even get smarter!

Do your grades back up your comments? Next time you get your report card, show it to her. Proof, end of argument. If your grades are not what they should be, she may have a point. You might need to spend some time studying. If you are in a class you do not belong in socially or educationally, you and your parents should demand you be removed from it and placed in an appropriate class. Just a hint: Do not stoop to name calling.

Everybody is so quick to jump on you and take the teacher's side, but honey, I have seen my overwieght daughter tormented horribly while her teachers sat by and pretended not to see, and then had a teacher tell me "she asks for it because, well, look at her." My daughter has a myriad of health problems that caused her weight gain but even if she didn't, a teacher should protect students, not embarrass them or pick on them in front of other students, your teacher should talk to you privately if she feels you aren't doing what you should be. Sounds like a burn out to me. Good luck to you and please do NOT let it make you feel badly about yourself, if you are being honest then you don't deserve the torment.

Attitude is EVERYTHING! But I will get back to that in a moment.
As I was reading your question, I was thinking that here is a young person who minds their own business, gets business done first and is learning that life is not always fair. Then came your last line...what a shame.(re: Line 1)
