I do not have Irish, twins but actual twin 16 month old girls. Your children are not actual twins, the term "Irish twins" is just a term for siblings born less than one year apart. They probably will have very similar traits and do the same things, because they are so close in age and they are siblings. My daughters do a lot of the same stuff, but they are still very different with different personalities. But technically, yours are not twins because they were not conceived at the same time.

You have Irish twins. It is called that of babies born within a year of each other (Less than 12 months aparts)

The saying Irish twins comes from the Irish Catholics. Since Catholics believe in having children and not preventing them, many Irish women where having children less than a year apart and people started calling those children "Irish twins".

Irish twins is a slang term that refers to siblings born 9 to 12 months apart - usually in the same calendar year, or who are in the same class in school.

They aren't really twins since didn't share the uterus: Human twins are two individuals who have shared the uterus during a single pregnancy and are usually, but not necessarily, born in close succession.

All Irish Twin means is that after you gave birth to one child, You immediately got pregnant w/ another. It's using the Irish's Fame for having large families (They have tons of kids, so the wife is always pregnant), to make a blanket description.

true twins have to be carried in the womb at the same time...

this whole "irish twins" thing just means you got pregnant right after the other one was born.

So your children are NOT "twins"

What it means is easy enough to explain. It refers to siblings born in the same calendar year, or otherwise less than twelve months apart.
