Disaster! For us and them. Civil war for them, and killing at a level not yet seen. Iran would not invade or take over, but try to exert its influence to dominate the Shi'ite factions. We would be left so seriously weakened with our reputation shot and demoralized. We can't withdraw, what we have to work on is getting everyone else (in the west) to play along and help. Iraq is not just Vietnam, it's Vietnam and Afghanistan (for the Russians) combined.

As I see it the US troops are providing some sort of stability and also training the Iraqi troops, so I think if they were pulled out now that things would get worse in Iraq for the civilians.

Iraninan-backed Shiite extremists would take the country over and turn it back into the sponsor of terrorism it was under Saddam Hussein, but not before fighting a civil war against Al-Qaida.

I don't know but that is rhetorical. Dems want to withdraw (SLOWLY), it will never happen all at once.
