Fully justified. Bush did not punish him; it was a judicial court after proper trial and opportunity to defend Saddam that the verdict has been given. It was upheld by the appellate courts also.

Well jagrati, sure its no way to start the new year. Initially the incident made me gloomy too. But later I realised that he had orchestrated mass homicides in Iraq, while he was president. He was no better than a despot while he was in power. So his execution must have satisfied the ends of justice. But any trial should be conducted by an independent judiciary in a sovereign nation. Here a puppet regime conducted it at the behest of the US and there was no fairness in the proceedings. So while I beg to differ on the issue that he should have been imprisoned for life, I agree fully when you ask, "Who is Bush to punish him?"

Everybody wants to blame it on Iraq. This pisses me off. First I DO support the war and approve of bush (everyone makes mistakes) and I support the execution of Saddam . We do occupy Iraq , we call the shots . This bs about us not wanting the Execution........We could have done more. But what has happened is we have sent a clear message across the globe that we are heartless. Saddam should have been afforded the basic HUMAN right to make peace with his allah and then executed in a much more controled manner.is this the message we want to send about our selves , that we are blood thirsty retalitory hethens , or that we conduct our selves with a little bit more respect for BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS.

I know this is gonna sound "strange" but i believe it was a terrible idea to kill him (The way he died made me feel bad The fact we let him go to be tried in a court in his own country was what annoyed me, we should of killed him for what he had already done to us, not let Iraq do it), especially to hang him. Think of the variables. You keep him in prison = much worse fate (although i would'nt do this), because he once had organised armies, wealth and more in his command, to keep him in prison would be much worse as it tears him away from media (like another yahoo answerer explained) and cuts off connection with the rest of the world. Plus before Saddam died he said: "I don't care whether i die, because it will make me a true martyr" and to him and his people would raise morale in Iraq and with the Iraqi troops, of course his death would be mourned by his still loyal soldiers and forces but they would also believe he died for a noble cause.

My personal Opinion:
Well what i would of done would be to attack his religion, his weakness, because Saddam was an extremely religious man. The muslim people do not believe in eating pigs (pork), as is they believe that it is a dirty animal and shouldn't be touched. So i would of force fead him pork untill he gained alot of weight and up to the point he couldn't eat any more and his system would start regurgitating the pork. By this time i would now know that his body could take no more, and after making him eat all of his last regurgitated food back up i would feed him to wild pigs. The second he dies i would call the pigs off and then, presuming the US or UK forces in iraq had captured any Iraqi forces i would show them the remains of Saddam and then, infront of them, strap it to a cannon and blow it into pieces. Then i would release the Iraqi forces (depending on how many there were, i'd release about 3 - 4 soldiers) to pass on information to the other insugents in Iraq to spread the word of what we had done to their great leader, and what would become of the rest of them if they did not stop, and to that day morale of the opposition in Iraq would decline at a fast pace. We have done it before in history and i fail to see why we stopped.

Oh and i am deeply sorry and i apologise if anyone is offended by my opinion, i am simply answering the question.

First of all whatever saddam was doing he was doing in his country President Bush have no rite to punish him, he was guilty of his country they have right to punish him not Bush.
America wants to establish her supremacy over the world and now at present the country having rich natural wealth and Iraq is having rich resources.
So Saddam was only Pretext to show the world but main aim was 2 capture the mineraloil wells and become prosporus.
It was not good (My Openion) "Sorry 4 spelling mistake."

Saddam Hussain. 1st he was muslim and no non muslim have right to punish any muslim. Saddam's execution was right decision? No, that is absulutely wrong decision. Yes u r right if someone thing he is wrong put him into the jail rest of his life...but the bush who punish him is really wrong thing he do...he is no one to gave punish to any one...Saddam was great leader for his nation who was alway be there for his country men. he walk arroung the country late night saw the poor people and help them...but being a muslim he is not suppose to be muslim sporter he alway as US say. he never accept pakistan, and he start war against Iran which is also a muslim country. Saddam has demarits but he is good muslim he pray 5 times a day. but some how its wrong policies goes against him and no muslim country help him specially pakistan and iran those are muslim powers. Saddam execution effects the world gradually and bush also see the effects and US pays for it. now a day US have power so they think rest of world are fools 1st he make issue of 911 which was pre plan, what they think, they destroy their 2 building and capture 2 muslim countries such as afganistan and pakistan they forget pakistan is the muslim power and neuclear power. 2nd they again come in iraq and show the world false image of war against terror. basically US want to capture the natural oil resources form iraq and in pakistan & afganistan US never want china make another free port in gawader(pakistan) because if china make gawader free port then china capture all the market of middle east and africa. those r the real facts. but Mr. Bush think world is fool specially muslim world. he doesn't know at the end of this world Muslim will be the ruler of this world and as we all know ALLAH is the supreme power of all the worlds he seem every thing and he gave punish to whom deserve punishment.

Any biased decision is bad similarly execution of Saddam was the worst thing to happen. Saddam was executed for hundred and odd killings but in similar fashion Bush is responsible for thousands of killings and instrumental in creating chaos in the only democracy in Arab world. Why doesn't America take the same stand against Pakistan which is again responsible for spreading militancy in Kashmir? Why is America not able to capture Laden? Bush always created the hype of the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. American could find Saddam in a hole but could they find any weapon of mass destruction? They defied UN and attacked Iraq killing thousands of innocents.

I don't feel bad for him, but I do feel angry that the Army and Bush, and the Iraqi government that we are propping up with our own soldiers' blood allowed the Shiite Militias/Death squads to infiltrate the funeral and chant the name of a man who has killed many US troops.

The trials of Saddam Hussein should have been the US proudest moment in Iraq but instead the entire thing was a farce and makes our country look like we don't know what the hell we're doing.

Bush did not punish him. Saddam was convicted in the courts of his homeland and punished by their laws. This is where America gets in trouble, we try to tell other nations how to run their governments. We should keep our noses out of their business and worry about our own country. After all would we want communist China to come and tell us what to do? We have poverty and starving people in our own nation. We have discrimination based on sex, race and religion. I personally think we should get our own act together before policeing the world.

Maybe she does live in Iraq. Did you ever think about that?

I think Saddam was a monster, but he should have remained in prison for life, out of touch with the media completely. Killing him did not make it better for anyone. Now the whole region will be plunged into bloody regional and civil conflicts for years to come.

Do you think the current Iraq government will remain when the US troops pull out? Not a snowball's chance in Hell. They will be on the same planes out of there, taking them to the US. All of his did nothing to bring stability to the region. It did nothing to further the security or even economic interests of the US as a country. Many American soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians lost their lives for nothing.
