I'm just curious, I am a person who loves art, and I've wanted the perspective from others on the topic of making RPG's and comic characters. Do people think Americans can pull off a good RPG like Final Fantasy, and make it just as big as the Japanese, or do the Japanese rule that category??? Same thing with Manga art, can Americans do that kind of stuff or will they be labeled as copy cats??? It seems as if America is so focused on Sports and Bloodshed, there's never good plots to games??? Any thoughts??

no one can say that it's impossible to create any type of art (or rpg). the quality is entirely up to the individual/team. of course it's possible to do a good rpg. americans are quite capable in animation. and there are a few good american rpgs, although their numbers have decreased in recent years. i find it best when americans and japanese work together in an rpg, like in kingdom hearts.

as for manga arts, why not? many americans are good manga-style artists. as for actually creating a manga, er, it's a bit of a stretch, but far from impossible! there just hasn't been any american to actually achieve that manga/anime edge. (for example avatar:last airbender. although it's an good series, it doesn't quite have the edge that japanese anime do) we have yet to see someone pull it off.

I've seen a lot of Americans come up with good plots in movies. And maybe if they don't try to model the game from the standard Japanese RPG's & try using a new style and approach to the genre I think they can pull this off.

This is a good question

I dont want the American copy cating the anime series or mangas. It s not right. I say Just stick to the Marvel comics that they use to know.

The Americans just have to make it more interactive and fun but the graphics should count as well. Films like Simpsons. South Park and Family guy are great and should keep going.

The Japanese anime fightings are great and im not saying that Marvel is not. But i think it 's becoming dead. The anime just keep on pounding it.Nah just keep the originality on to it

I think where the Japanese have an advantage is that they are not afraid to be "out there" or take risks or perceived to be weird. They have a vision, they go for it.

Today, things in the States are so based on focus groups and pleasing everybody that there is room for very little true originality.

Thats why small independent movies, singers, artists etc hit the scene because they don't have the money men controlling their creations.

Games these days are created to appeal to the BIGGEST audience, so thats where plot and creativity suffers. GTA worked, so now lets make every game like GTA (can anyone say Godfather or Scarface?)

hmm I think we could beat them in RPGs we already beat them in action AKA HALO. manga by its own definition is japanese, or atleast its artform, but yes many americans can copy it and right as good, if not even better stories.

as far as americas interest are concerned, we lke big gones, but are you to tell me Final Fantasy is violence free, and what of all the "fan-service" within there other games.

Americans can do just as good as Japanese.
mange art can be done by Americans also. without being
labeled as copy cats if done and made differently.

sure, americans could - but japanese-style plot lines are popular now, so america will capitalize off that popularity as long as they can.
