Hey can anyone tell me how exactly to become an actress? I am 13 and I really want to act. Can someone show me step-by-step instructions on how exactly to get into a commercial or something.
And does anyone know a list of agencies that are not a scam...i really don't get the whole agency idea....can someone help explain? thanx

Actors study acting for many years. Ask your parents to enroll you in an acting class, so you can compete with other actors your age. Don't concern yourself with agencies at this point.

Once you take acting lessons your acting teacher can explain everything to you and your parents. At the moment, concentrate on finding a good acting school or acting teacher.

--> the girl above me is right, you should take some classes but then again reseach on them and don't pay a lot for them! or just start by local theatres because you get a lot of information and connection by doing theatre.
after you took your classes and learned from your teachers and stuff then:

well first of all make sure they are NOT a scam, if ANY agency asks for money or tells you to take classes with them or do your headshots with their photographer then DON'T!
so how you start is that you go to find an agency! well in Vancouver we have Vancouveractorsguide.com to help us or UBCP.com for all the licensed agencies. I don't know where you live but then with a quick seach of licensed agencies in your area you can find some.
After you make sure they have their license and are with ACTRA, AFTRA or SAG...you send them your resume, headshots and cover letter.
Since you are young and don't have a lot of experience include school plays and etc on your resume(seach for acting resume on google) and take a nice picture of you that looks like you along with a quick cover letter that introduces you and send them to the agency(that you have RESEARCHE DABOUT!)
after that you call them in a shot while to make sure they got your stuff. then they might call you if they want if not try another agency! don't BUG THEM!
good luck!
