Also known as. It's someone who has an alias, sometimes called a false name, although in UK you can go under any name you like and it's legal as long as it's not done for fraudulent purposes. I can call myself Margaret Thatcher if I wish-although it would be slightly strange with me being a man! A good example would be Robert Zimmerman, aka Bob Dylan, or Harry Webb aka Cliff Richard (Sir).
