not me either. But I was once at a very nice restaurant and this happened to a young man at a table near by. He was maybe 17 years old and looked to be on a first date. The waiter was not at all discreet.
I threw my napkin across my food and interrupted the waiter, proclaiming loudly that there was a bug in my food. I demanded to speak to the manager and followed the waiter to the back. At this point I told the manager and the server how tactless they were to the boy and that there was no bug in my food... but next time they should treat a customer with the same respect they'd wish to be treated with! I then gave them my credit card and told them I would pay for the young couples food and told the server I would include a 40% gratuity if he went back out and told the young man (in front of his date) that there had been a mistake and the card went through.
It all worked out and the manager even gave me a free dessert!

I know, that would have to be real embarassing...
I used to work as a cashier at Walmart and people would give me credit cards that didn't work all the time (not on purpose, of course)... I'd always try to be polite about it and say "sorry, your card has been refused" without everyone in the store noticing...

happened to me just a few weeks ago. It was the morning of payday, and i have direct deposit, and i was trying to pay with my debit card at breakfast, and my money is supposed to be deposited at midnight, and usually is. Well, it was like 9:30 in the morning and I'm expecting like almost a thousand dollars to be in my account, but, oopsie!! Some goon in payroll must have been asleep at the switch!! Luckily we had some cash on us we were taking to deposit, but, that would have sucked if we didn't. Funny thing, we went to the grocery store right after that and by about quarter to eleven the money was there. Bastards.

i check all my accts everyday and I know my balances everyday. so if they told me it declined, they would run it again or call the credit card company. I have 2 cards, I know one has a high balance, I keep that one out of my purse so I don't use it

Yes but truthfully when credit cards are declined it could be so sooo many reasons. Anyone would be unprofessional to be obvious about it.

Yes. I don't use credit cards anymore but it did happen once. I tried to play it cool and say, "Oh, they must not have received my payment" but I was embarrassed!
