Take a course in speed typing, get yourself a copy of Mavis Beacon's Typing software, or there are other pretty good utilities that teach you to type faster without looking.

For example, I remember a utility that worked like the old four-color Simon games. On the screen, you would see a simulated keyboard. One of the keys would change color and you would have to press that key within so many seconds.

Next they would show you a letter WITHOUT the keyboard and you had to press it in so many seconds.

They would then move up to words, and you had so many seconds to type the word in without a typo.

Finally a short sentence was displayed and you tried to type that in on a time limit. You got so many points for the sessions and once you got better at typing the scores went up.

If you do it "correctly" by not looking at the keyboard, and it starts to become second nature to you (you dont have to think about where the key is before you actually press it), then you will see your typing speed up.

Several ways.
Typing is not only a mental skill, but a motor one. Your fingers need to have the physical memory of the letters that they are striking all the time. Remember, accuracy, then speed. It really doesn't help for you to be fast if you can only get one out of every four letters right.
Some people will put up a diagram of the QWERTY keyboard in their room. Another thing that helps is to type out words even when you are not in front of your computer. For instance, you come to a stop sign, physically have your fingers type out stop. Same for signs in the grocery store, anywhere. You'll look goofy for a little while, but pretty soon, the fingers will start to remember where the keys are and the rest is easy.

As everyone else has said, Practice.

Anyways, I can type roughly 120-200 wpm. when I was a kid, I learned on Mavis Beacon Typing School. I don't know if it's still around. But you could give that a try.

This applies to anything you want to get better at, PRACTICE. A few years ago did not know how to type at all, i took a typing course at my high school, and voila, in about 7 months i was typing 45 wpm. I have not practiced much since, so i have to admit that I'm getting a little slow

Sadly, there isn't really any way except practice. One suggestion I have for you is, while typing, try not to look at the keyboard, and make a conscious effort to form associations between letters and finger motions. That's the important step: To get to the point where you can subconsciously tell where to put your finger to get any particular letter.

Also, it is not necessary to do special typing lessons. Personally I dislike typing lessons and learned all my typing from just...well, typing stuff, in Microsoft Word. It worked for me, AND it wasn't boring like typing lessons are, so it should work for you. :)

practice-there is a great website called typingtest.com that allows you to type for speed to practice. I wouldnt do that often because the text doesnt change much but they offer games that allow you to gain the skills necessary to be a proficient typist.

I also believe that macon offers a package online that you can down load now.

It is important that you learn proper form while increasing your speed.

Best of luck to you!

Here is the trick. Play Lynard Skynard in the background and drink 3 shots of lemon juice. Then stand on your head for exactly 2 minutes (this is tricky because one second off could make the trick not work). Then sit down and begin to type while repeating over and over aloud " I am pretty. I am pretty." That should improve your accuracy in no time and you will be melting those keys with your lightening fast hands.

The only way to become a good typist is to pratice typing. That way it will become second nature. I use mavis beacon and typing instructor deluxe to type. I still have accuracy issues even though i type like 55wpm, the onlyt thing you can do is practice about a half and hour a day and you will get better at it.
