hi, i ve just began learning the guitar, and i came across a term called muted note, in the tabulator, shown as a x, how do you preform this? Cheers!

You don't play it ~ it keeps the tempo

put one of your fingers lightly on the string so that it doesn't produce a note. You can do this with one of the fingers which is holding down another string or if it is the 6th string you can use your thumb to do it. Extremely different from the palm mute which is where you use the palm of your strumming hand to dull the tone of the chord so that it doesn't ring out for as long. Good luck!!

You mute that by laying your picking hand over the bridge. It's called a "Palm Mute"

pick the note with your right hand, but dont press all the way down with your left hand & the sound you're left with is a 'muted note'

You put your finger(s) lightly on the string - it deadens the string instead of producing a note.
