Well, the example for Switzerland is absolute nonsense - there is no such law anywhere in the country, not even any corresponding discussion.
And I believe, that the same thing applies to the Swedish example in your question.

In Sweden, there are laws forbidding parents (or other adults, of course) to abuse children - physically, sexually, mentally. So yes, if insults and humiliations are severe or/and systematically used by parents on their children, so that the child suffers real injure, I'm sure they fall under the law of abuse. But I don't know how often mental abuse comes into court, much less how high the conviction rate is. I can't remember ever having read about parental insults alone leading to trial and conviction. When doing a quick search on the net, I found a fairly recent study called "Children and abuse - corporal punishment and other forms of child abuse in Sweden" at http://www.sweden.gov.se/content/1/c4/11/98/b1ebdfe0.pdf , but it doesn't really mention parents' mental abuse of children. It does take up bullying at school. My belief is that it is very rare that insults are being prosecuted, and if they are, they are probably a part of a pattern of serious abuse - mental and physical. It wouldn't suffice to call your kid a "dimwit" or something like that in a heated debate.

I am Swedish and I really do not know if there is a law prohibiting the parent to insult their children. However, we are brought up in a way to respect children as verbal abuse leads nowhere and only creates bad relationship with your own child. It has to do with respect and guiding the child in the right direction, which insulting wouldn't be the best option

In England it is illegal to eat Christmas Pudding on Christmas day.
Plus it is legal to shoot a man with a red hat crossing your land on a wednesday or something equally stupid.
There are hundreds of stupid laws in England which date back hundreds of years, i expect the swiss are similar.
