FYI. I only weight around 145. so it is not about being fat and all. its just that I am new at this. and I am expecting other people to be way better.

Do whatever you want to. Just fallow your heart.
Though you must know something: Later in life you will regret the things you never did, not those you did.
Enjoy! ;)

Truthfully you should go for it.I mean its your last year of high school and you gotta give it all.For long distances (i also run track, but short distance) i would say run the 800 and the mile (1600) or just the 1600.For trainning to run it: start out easy, start with just a quarter mile, then half, 3/4;s and finally run the full mile. You just have to keep working hard to get your stamina and endurence up.Also during a race, dont sprint in the begining, even if the others do, you;ll make up ground later in the race.

P.S.- You should be running the mile under 6 min. in high school. If the mile doesnt work out, go with the 800, because you;ll have experience from the 1600.Hope i helped you out, and good luck!

If you have not ran track before it may be hard your first few weeks. But after that you will have a good work out run track. Also since this your last year than you run track if you do money for college this is a good way to get it

Coincedentally, I ran track only my senior year after not participating in it since jr. high.
I placed 6th in district in the 400m, but because I hadn't came up in the program and worked out as much, i was naturally out of the relay mix and the shorter distances. I ran cross country and the 800 was my main race- OUCH thats a killer.
Get in all the work you can, you'll be behind the others but you can still make a good account of yourself if you're dedicated to succeeding and hard work. Pay attention to technique in the endurance events- it can help you make up being behind in your training.
Whatever you do, stick it out and give it your best. You won't regret it and when you look back it will be an accomplishment you'll be proud of.
