First and foremost, don't get overconfident. Yes, you feel you have a good voice, but don't go in thinking you're going to get the lead.

Get a good audition song which shows off your voice and range. If asked to read from the script, it would be good if you could get hold of the script ahead of time and read it through. Know the characters.

Lastly, don't turn down a small, bit or chorus part. Without the chorus, the show wont go on, and it WILL go on without you. Turning down a part only means that next year, they will remember you turning down a part in the chorus.

Hey girl!!! Ok...so I totally know how you feel. As a freshman I got the lead in my school's first play of the year and I was shocked!!!! I was so nervous going in there and auditioning and call backs were even more humiliating. The biggest thing, though, is that you look and act happy. Be sure that you are nice to everyone you meet because often times diretctors won't cast people who they have heard or seen as being mean, rude, or overconfident. You should always believe in yourself but not so much that you appear arrogant. You should also smile and breathe and if you mess up...DONT show it. A director will automatically cross you off their list. Be sure you are loud from the very first word you sing or say or the director will tune you out immediately. I know all of this because my director for the plays I have been in, who is a professional and well known actor in San Diego, has helped me out a lot with audition tips. Best of luck!!!!!!
P.S. Don't be afraid of the older kids...if they give you a problem tell an older kid that you KNOW is nice and they will usually back off. Also, if you get a lead they will definitely respect you...all the seniors loved me because I was the only freshman in our school's history to get a lead.

Calm down. But not too much. Eventually you will no longer get nervous. Try to keep it though, it gives more life to your audition and performance.

hmm. tips. Don't get your hopes too high, but always aim high.
Practice in front of your family, friends, write down the basic rules for singing practice those and remembering them.

Don't try to be too complicated.

Remember and really think about the rules of vocal health always but at least a week in advance.

Drink plenty of water the day before so that your sufficianly hydrated and you don't pass out.

Always (back to basics) Keep that air support when you breath.

Breath deep, make the sound spin out of your head, all these things come with time and practice.
Don't be crushed at what part you get.

Always aspire to do great things and work hard toward them.
Prepare on your audition work, but don't overprepare you don't want to burn yourself out on the work.

Try to know the music automatically so that when you go you wont' be so scared you forget but when you sing, be on half-auto pilot, so that you can bend and use dynamics and other vocal sugar.

If you have a more detailed question, feel free to email me.

either way let me know how it goes.

Hope you do your best, and do well.

Be happy that your in it if you make it, dont' be crushed if you don't, you have all of middleschool and highschool.

Rambo

ps. don't try to overdo, don't go beyond what you can do well, exept maybe just a tad to show that you know.

Relax...most importantly. Smile, show your personality, get noticed without being obnoxious, and don't hesitate to read or sing for ANY part. Show them that you are willing to act as silly/over-the-top as they want you to (I'm saying this in reference to any improv exercises they may include in the audition). Be courteous. Look your best. Good luck! :)
