Hi everyone. I accidentally posted this question in the "newborn section", but I think the "pregnancy" section is more appropriate. Sorry to those who are reading this question twice. I myself hate duplicate questions.
Anyway, I'm not freaking out or anything, just want some general information from those who are experienced...
I'm 35 weeks along and my baby dropped about a week ago. I'm wondering how long after your baby drop did you go into labor? I was watching this Lamaze DVD that I purchased and the educator had mentioned that if the baby "drops" or engages, the average mom will go into labor approximately 4 weeks later. Now, my husband is a little freaked out that the baby will be coming a little earlier than the due date. This is our first child and we're very excited! :)
Thanks, everyone!

there are so many factors that go into labor =) Your baby can drop. you can lose your mucus plug, you can have tons of braxton hicks, and you can be dilated - all of these for WEEKS and still not go into labor. With my first this happened and they induced me at 42 weeks.... Anyways though =) just remember (and remind your husband) a Due Date is an ESTIMATE! It can be off by weeks! A "to term" pregnancy is considered anywhere from 38-42 weeks! Good luck with the birth- i know you're at the point where you are just so excited to meet your new baby! I'm 35 weeks right now- and like most pregnant women i swear that at any moment i'm going to go into labor- but having been through this before- i know in reality it will only happen when the baby is ready- and i might still be waiting another 6 or 7 weeks!

You make a great point. I don't think TRUE conservatives think like this, though. Both the Republican AND Democratic parties have been taken over via people with ulterior motives...this is exactly the reason I am no longer a Democrat and owe ZERO loyalty to either of the parties at all. IMO, a TRUE American Patriot thinks with the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and what is best for America, NOT THE REST OF THE WORLD. Most Americans no longer think like this and would just rather watch TV and the only news that they get is from the media... How many of them actually have READ the "Patriot" act or any of the recent bills coming out of Congress? It takes time, but protecting your rights do. To answer the question which you asked, you are right. Socialism is exactly that. The New World Order that Bush Sr. has talked about is in the process of happening and this is the result. Businesses that they want around will succeed, and ones that the elite don't care about will not succeed. The poor get poorer and the rich get richer...trickle down theory is just BS.

before my daughter was born when i visted the dr i had dropped and was dialated to 1 and had already began thinning, 2 weeks later i delivered a healthy baby girl ( a little small 5lbs 8 oz because whe was born at 37 weeks).
Stages of labor are different for every women for examply my sister was dropped and dialted to 2 and still went 6 weeks later a week past her due date (she had to be induced).
Also remember that full term isconsidered at 38 weeks, due dates are just educated guesses and nothing more.
Every women is different, so there is no way of knowing if it will be in 4 weeks or more/ less.

The key word is approximately. That baby will come when he/she is good and ready. Also, as for dropping, I've known many times when the baby will drop some but still has a way to go before birth and will usually drop more in the ensuing weeks. Tell your husband to calm down. The doctor is keeping a close eye on you and the baby and will let you know when you are really close to birthing.

It's nearly time.... Good luck xx
I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd daughter and with my first I dropped the week before I lost my mucus plug and then went into labour the next day. It's true that everyone's body and pregnancy is different. I found with regards to the EDD that that date is 40weeks(how many people actually go 40 weeks?!) I delivered at 36weeks and 4 days. I don't think anyone can give an accurate date, just be prepared!!xx

I personally don't know how long after a baby drops labour starts because my pregnancies the baby has waited till labour to drop. Everyone is different so there is no way of knowing.
I do want to offer this peice of assurance. Even if the baby does come in 3 weeks you will be 38 weeks which is considered full term. If your baby is born at 38 weeks there really is no worry.
Congrats!!! And welcome to parent hood.. Worrying is part of the game!!

Yes your DVD is telling yout he truth I was actully reading up on this. Becuz my doctor told me the baby was dropping on Dec 18th. I was bout to ask something abou this and still will but I read that it will be up to 4 weeks. LMAO...most of the time I don't have any simpathy for men. But thatsjust cute he's getting all worried. Remind him the baby will be full term so theres no concern about health issues. And besides it shouldn't be that early. Only like a week.

Babies are fully developed at 37 weeks, you're currently 35 weeks and the baby dropped a week ago, which is right on target! I myself went overdue with my first born and he dropped at about 35 weeks. It made it quite uncomfortable to walk in my last 3 weeks, but everything turned out ok! He was born a healthy 8lbs 13oz and 20.5 inches long :) I'd suggest to pack your bags now if they are not already done but not to fret too much :)

I was nine days earlier, from my due date and I think I dropped at 34-35 weeks. But tell your husband the due date is only a guess, not an exact science.
