Any ideas how to get rid of an oil stain on a carpet that keeps working its way upwards after cleaning. The stain looks better immediately after cleaning, then it reappears.

When the area is dry, rub it well with highly absorbent cat litter. Don't use the clay stuff. That just makes a bigger mess if it gets wet. Use Fresh Step or something along those lines. Rub it in well. It may take a few days, then vac. Best to cover it so it doesn't get tracked around during this time. Got motor oil out of the dining room carpet (don't ask) with this technique. Helped that we had a cat at the time, I guess.
