Sounds like a bad connection. Ping your DSL or Cable modem and see if it happens then.

If that connection pings OK, then the problem is somewhere between your modem and the internet.
In that case, call your ISP, explain the problem, and have them work on it until it's fixed. There's nothing you can fix on your end.

You may receive, "Network cable unplugged" though the cable is connected due to any of the following conditions:

1. The cable is actually unplugged at the Router end.
2. The cable could be bad.
3. The Router is not functioning correctly.
4. The NIC might be bad. Check the back of the NIC to see if the power light is "ON".
5. Check the router for Power.
6. If the network connection is configured incorrectly.

To resolve the issue, first check whether the NIC card is able to send and receive data by performing the following steps:

1. Click Start, and select Run.
2. Type, "ping 127.0.0.1" without quotes, and press Enter.
3. You should get "Reply from.." messages if the NIC card is good.

Uninstall and reinstall the wireless adapter drivers

1. Right-click My Computer > Properties.
2. Select Hardware tab and click Device Manager Button.
3. Click the plus sign beside the Network Adapter and right-click the Wireless adapter listed here and select Uninstall.
4. Restart the notebook and the drivers will be automatically reinstalled.

Reset the TCP/IP settings

1. Click "Start" and select “Run”.
2. Type the following command.

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

and click "OK".

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools and Internet Options.
3. Click Connections tab. Remove any dial-up connections mentioned hear.
4. Click LAN settings and select "Automatically detect Settings" and uncheck all other items in this window and click OK. Apply and OK.

Reconfigure the wireless network using different network configuration (using new names for the SSID) in most cases should resolve the issue.

The complete steps to configure the wireless network are listed on the following URL:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00308446

This should resolve the Network cable unplugged error message problem.

nop, no software. you said you used different computers. It could be that you have a duplicate public ip address, call you ISP and explain your problem, they can renew you ip address.
