Please stop worrying and enjoy these tender days before a new life comes into this world. Smoking is not good for mother or baby, but does not pose a life threatening danger. Many, many, many babies are born to smoking mothers. As for the marijuana, it is not nearly as dangerous for mother or baby as any of the drugs that your friend may be planning to use during childbirth. It is a safe drug in itself. It's the smoking that is a health concern in the long run. As for drug testing, the last thing anyone at the hospital is interested in is "catching" someone using an illegal drug and there is no reason for anyone to be screening for marijuana. This is a cultural issue, not a medical issue. You and your friend will be in the hands of medical people there who understand all of this and wish only the best for your friend and her baby. It concerns me, though, that your friend did not quit smoking while carrying her baby, as though she's not ready to assume the responsibility and make the sacrifices necessary for being a parent. She should assume that more responsible role now when she is asked by her doctors in the hospital, "Are you taking any drugs right now?" It is very important for the doctors to know exactly whatever drugs, legal, illegal or over-the-counter that she is taking because it could affect how she responds to drug decisions that her doctors reccomend for pain relief. But, please, trust me. This is all going to be just fine and you should be savoring this time without such worries. RN

To alleviate your stress correct away Can she recognize she's pregnant: NO Can she genuinely have a optimistic pregnancy test: yes She can not almost certainly be aware of she's pregnant, considering the fact that it can be means too early. She won't be able to take a scan and get an accurate effect until a few week after her neglected interval (which considering the fact that she was once on it on the time, she has about an additional month earlier than she can almost certainly pass over it and get an correct studying) it is feasible that she really received a confident influence, considering that of her period hormones her body mainly goofed. And on high of that those you purchase on the retailer don't seem to be all that correct anyway. I truthfully doubt she's pregnant, and she or he might be doing it for attention. You guys haven't recognized each and every other that long, she may truely be the kind of woman to do that sort of factor. I would inform her to head to a neighborhood Heartbeat middle for a formal check up.

If they see obvious issues with your friend and the baby once he/she is born, then I'm sure that they will test. If your friend has been smoking pot from the beginning, then there will be major issues with the baby, the least being addicted to pot at birth and probably having some major behavioural/learning issues. Your friend should not be allowed to keep this baby, since she can't even take care of herself properly. If they don't do anything at the hospital, then someone should call children's aid asap to get that baby out of there.

Calm down, already. Your friend hasn't hurt her baby by smoking marijuana and it is unlikely that the hospital will randomly test for for pot. If she were drinking alcohol or taking meth, I would be the first to sound the alarm bells, but pot just isn't harmful to that baby. Period.
FYI, I was so sick during all four of my pregnancies that I lost 15 - 20 pounds in the first 6 months, and only gained enough back to come out of the hospital weighing what I started. If I hadn't smoked pot, I probably would have lost even more weight -- the pot was the only thing that calmed my morning sickness (which I re-named All Day Deathness). And all four kids were and are perfect, brilliant and certainly not addicted to pot! Just FYI.

If the baby comes out addicted or with defects. They will definitely give both of them test. If she is found guilty they will take the baby from her. I had a friend she was the same but she also drank and did coke. Her baby came out fine. I was worried for her too. Some people just don't get how seriously it can be. She definitely dodge a bullet. Good luck and your a great friend for worrying.

Hopefully her baby is fine. If you turn her in she will lose her baby. Once DYFS is called that's it. They will come to the hospital and take the baby. Just keep that in mind with whatever decision you choose. To answer your question, no they probably wouldn't test her unless there is reason to do so. If she smells and acts high at the hospital they might. Don't be worried for her, be worried for the baby.

It's people like your friend that really ticks me off in a big way.
Why would she do this to her poor baby?? I would not worry about her at all but worry about the poor baby that maybe born with disabilities. My son has so much wrong with him and I never once smoked, drank or did any drugs with him but he still came of with a ton of problems and here your friend is doing drugs not caring if she hurts her baby or not WTF... They need to cut tie and burn her tubes as soon as the baby is born so she does not have a chance to hurt another baby with drugs. You should take her to a Children's hospital and let her see what drugs do to a poor baby and then maybe she will wake up but I am betting it's to late for that.. I will pray for this poor baby.. And yes most states do drug test on the babies as soon as they are born and then take them if they have drugs in their system..
Your friend needs to grow up and think about what she is doing to this poor baby...

I would be more worried for the baby that's inside of her! Hopefully the baby will still come out healthy? It would be a good thing if they found out she does smoke pot maybe someone who cares enough will try and help her stop, for the sake of her child.

You are worried for her?!! Please report her for the sake of the unborn baby. He or she does not have a choice and there is a good chance of the baby having health problems after birth. She doesn't seem to care about the welfare of the baby now. What makes you think she will be a better parent after he or she is born. Shame on her!!!
