Notre Dame is too greedy(they don't want to share money) and scared to join a conference. They know if they were in any other conference than the big east they would probably lose 4+ games a year. Plus they enjoy their annual beating of the service academies

Believe it or not, I read an article somewhere that said ND was wanting to join the Big Ten back in the 40's or 50's. The coaches put it to a vote and ND was turned down by a count of 6-4 (Penn St. obviously not a member then) and ND vowed to never get into one in football again if for no other reason than to stick it to the Big Ten every chance they could. How much truth there is in that story, I don't know, but it seems intriguing that the possibility even existed, let alone 6 decades worth of hard feelings!

Because Brady Quinn is an over-rated lime-lighter just begging for attention and trying to be a scrambling quarterback like troy smith and micheal vick, when in reality he is a very good pocket passer, he just needs to get his head out of his butt. And Notre Dame, statistically, hasn't beaten anyone really good since acquiring Brady Quinn as a starter. In the past 4 years they have beaten Michigan only twice out of the 5 times they have met, and have lost to USC, Penn State, etc. every time. They can beat Army and Navy no problem, but when it comes down to big time games against ranked teams when they need it the most, Brady Quinn turns into Peyton Manning, a choke-artist who can rack up numbers but can not win the big one....

I'm sorry, most consensus national championships, 7 heisman winners, 47 hall of famers (most in the nation by 18), and more all americans than anyone else. ND deserves 2 be in a bowl game every year, except last year, and they will win, they'll play rice or some crappy team just to end their streak. and next year, watch out.

Well, I guess one can say at least they qualify for bowl games. Once you get there, one team wins and one team loses. Notre Dame tends to be a bit overrated, and they get into good bowl games because they will draw a lot of fans both in person and on TV. The team itself is over matched.

Notre Dame can't win a game, because they don't play anyone. They will typically play 2 to 3 tough teams a season (and lose to them )and then the rest are cupcake games they schedule so they can have enough wins to qualify for a bowl game. I truely don't see why everyone loves them and they get so much media attention. They have never had a good team in my lifetime.

Notre Dame had some lean recruiting years under Davies. They'll rebound with Charlie Weis. But yeah the NCAA needs to inform the Irish that they will no longer sanction them unless they join a conference- AND THAT SHOULD BE THE BIG 10 !

I personally love Notre Dame. I was in South Bend when my dying grandfather asked me to carry the ND torch after he passed on. So my family now contains 3 U of M fans, 2 MSU fans and me, the sole fighting Irish fan.
But god is angry with the Catholics over the whole protecting the pedaphiles and protecting the church. He's pissed. So ND is screwed.
dammit

It has nothing to do with them not being in a conference. They can't win because they don't recruit size nor speed.
