I think it is a great statement using a book from his faith that was owned by one of the founding fathers. I also think it is a slap in the face to Rep. Goode because Goode represents the district that Jefferson lived in.

This is a country built of religious freedom. Congressman Ellison has the right to swear on Quran as that is the holy book of his religion. I would rather have him swear to do his job on the book of the faith he truely believes than have him follow a tradition, swearing on the Bible, which will have little or no meaning for him.

Since this was for a photo op only and he and all the others take the oath of office without any Holy Book of any religion in evidence, this is the biggest non-issue of the hour. A massive troll to get the people riled up about something that is truly nothing.
