you add the 3 sides to get the perimeter... so add the 3 sides:

3x + 7 + 4x - 9 + 5x + 6

12x + 4

The perimeter is the sum of all three sides.
The sides are 3x+7, 4x-9, and 5x+6.
So, considering p as the perimeter,:

P=3x+7+(4x-9)+5x+6
P=3x+4x+5x+7+6-9
P=12x+4...

Just add them all together.
So:
3x+7 + 4x-9 + 5x+6 = 12x + 4

Well perimeter is like if you put a string around the figure, how big would that string be? To figure it out you just add the sides together.

3x + 7 + 4x - 9 + 5x + 6

Now just combine your like terms.

12x + 4

Hope that helps!

(3x + 7) (4x - 9) (5x +6) are the length of the sides

add together (3x +7) + (4x - 9) + (5x + 6)

(3x + 4x +5x) + (7 - 9 + 6)

12 x + 4 (answer)
