Pet rats don't carry rabies.

And judging by your grammar, you're what, like, six? In other words, you don't sound near old/mature enough to have even a dustbunny as a pet. Unless you have parents willing to do all the work for you, wait a few years until you can.

And yes, rats make great pets. Caging costs pretty much what you're willing to pay. You can get small cages for like, $10, and then there are the nice cages that cost closer to $50 on up. Aquariums are not a good idea for cageing. And rats cost whatever the petstore wants to charge, which around here is about $5, but they're feeder rats. Feeder rats are indeed good pets, though.

Rats do make good pets, so just ignore those people who are not open-minded. I've owned rats as pets ever since I was a child and I'm an adult now. I even created a group online for people who have rats as pets. You're welcome to join if you want. I'll add the link at the end. You can also get rats from breeders, and it's not very expensive. $10-$20 depending on the breed, and yes, there is a breed. (Hairless, Dumbo, Rex, Double Rex, Standard, etc.)

Welcome to the world of rats. They are the best pets I've ever had.

And, to add, PET rats do not carry rabies. We are not talking about sewer/street rats. So, no they do not.

get them breed for pets ;and they are good pets really. I am a mom and my two kids came home from the pet store with a pet rat each, oh no, no way. but they said they would get rid of them if i didnt change my mind about them after a month. so i agreed mostly out of curiosity. we ended up keeping them until they past away. just dont keep any thing close to there cage they can reach and pull it in and chew it to pieces like my pellow shams... females are the best, males are more playful, but like to leave there mark like a male dog. they are like haveing a very small dog, and they are very smart. you can train them. they are in the rodent family, but when raised for a pet it is totally different and dont carry rabies. wild animals carry rabies. when a animal is raised right with the intention of being a pet they are not amoung the wild life. i say get one there funny...

yes rats make good pets i have 2 myself they don;t cost much at all I'm not sure exactly i got mine from my science teacher so....but the caging is simple all you need is a aquarium and if you get them as babies and you hold them alot then then they will most likely like to be held i would get 2 females rats are social and when your not around they get lonely so i got 2 whatever you want but just don't get 2 males they will fight

Rats are amazing! The greatest pet I have ever had was (actually, is) a rat named Emily.

I was terrified of them at first. But, remember...these are domestic rats, not rats out of the sewers of Harlem. They are intelligent and friendly.

Emily can be let out and she will run around the house unsupervised and will come when we call her. She never gets into trouble...She was well trained at a young age.

No they dont have rabies, yes they make good pets. They love to be held, remember to pick them up by the base of the tail (closest to the body) then grab a hold of there body. Do not pick them up by the end of the tail. They are usually cheap but that's cause they are used for food for snakes and such, try adopting one.
