allowance is NOT a right of a child.... you are not entitled to an aloowance.. sometmes my kids got an allowance and sometimes they didnt... but it depended on how well off we were at the time...

however at about 13 or 14 I did take them shopping when I was buying them clothes and gave them a budget of how much they could spend... I would point out to them how by going with something cheaper than a brand name item they could buy more clothes and accessories... but did leave it up to them...but did insist that they choose any essential items first and that non-essentials were bought with what was left over this didnt happen all the time just once or twice a year when they needed clothes.

what you are responsible for paying for with an allowance should depend on how much you receive. If you receive a small allowance then that should just be for you to use however you like but if it is more substantial then you should be responsible for some of your own needs such as buying school stuff or clothing and makeup and for going out.

Well when i was 14 my mom paid me like 5 dollars a day.. We pay from stuff like starbucks or candy, things that are little that we work hard for.. Or sometimes i would get a manicure at the end because 7 times 5 is 35 so... that enough for a manicure, or makeup,

Depends on the child's age, parents financial circumstances, and a number of things. When I was a kid, we got $2 a week and were expected to have done all of our chores in order to be paid the full $2. We had to clean our rooms, clean the dishes, take out the garbage, mow the lawn and dust and sweep and so on. My niece gets $5 a week, but her parents have 6 kids and money is definitely an issue. She is allowed to borrow ahead if she needs something important and she can earn extra money if she babysits her brother and sisters, or other peoples kids. She does very well and plans her money very well. I think its important to sit down with parent s and prepare a budget for an allowance and what is expected in return for it. I think it is wise to give kids opportunities to save for things, to plan ahead and to make buying decisions concerning money. It helps them gain confidence and buying experience. My nieces and nephews use their monies for buying movie tickets, presents, lipstick, clothes, any extras, my nephew has been saving his money from allowance and B-Day and Christmas money and got himself a new X box. He planned all year for it so he was pretty excited to have the money finally. Its nice to see him and help him make his goals! Good luck my dear!
