if its a bit sticky i use a tissue but if its crusty i have a good flick

Hate to tell you this, but most males never use a tissue. If they do, they are with their wife or girlfriend, but even then, that's iffy. It's 99% pick and flick. Gross, but true.

you're missing an important step in the pick and flick method
If I'm not mistaken it's pick, ROLL, and flick.
you get a much better bounce that way.
