Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, was the last man to be beheaded in England, on 9 April 1747. He was executed on Tower Hill for his part in the Highland rising of 1745.

I am sure I read somewhere that the last person beheaded in the UK was in the 19th century
Incidentally the saying "died laughing" was when Lord Lovat was beheaded,The viewing stands collapsed and Lord Lovat died laughing

Yup, that's true. Simon Fraser AKA: Lord Lovat... And no, you don't get beheaded, and never did get beheaded, for being a witch in this country. The last person to get executed for Witchcraft was in 1716, when Mary Hicks and her daughter Elizabeth were hanged.
