Actually, Donald Trump does have authority to make decisions concerning the "Miss America" pagent. He owns the Miss Universe Organization.

You are misconstruing her words. Rosie doesn't have a problem with second chances. Her problem is that Donald Trump is acting as the moral authority. Why should he be the boss of what is moral and immoral when he hasn't been moral himself in the past. He's also not a good role model (lots of bankruptcies), so why should he be able to choose a role model. In addition, Rosie thinks that Trump is a publicity whore. Why did he have to hold a public press conference to settle a private matter. He embarassed Tara Conner in front of America when he could have just told her in private. He just wanted the publicity. I don't like Rosie, but I agree with her opinions on this one. Finally, Tara Conner is not a teen. She is a 20 year old adult. Her mistakes were intentional, and she KNEW that it was wrong and made her a bad role model (ie kissing other girls, drinking, drugs, sneaking guys into her aparment). She's only sorry because she was caught.
Also, the first amendment gives us freedom of speech, so I don't understand why everyone is reacting to Rosie's statement. Hey, it's America. You get to say what you want. I'm sure all of us have talked about celebrities and other people in the past. If you say no, you're lying.

the ONLY reason that rosie said ANYTHING is cause she wishes that she was pretty and had money like trump has, and she can not tell me that she never drank while she was under the age of 18 or that she never did any of the stuff that tara did, well besides the boy she just snuck girls. all rosie wants is attenching plane and simple she wants it but cant get it so she stricks out at other people to try to get some attenching and i hope that trump sues her she deserves it. maybe she would become a better person from it rather than the moron fatty she is now
and to the person that said the freedom of speach thing, that has limits she crossed them by putting her statement on national tv, u can not say anything in a public broadcasting mannor that is not truthful and face it how in the world would trump own like 65% on AC if her wasnt rich? come on rosie use ur brain a lil, but dont hurt urself

Rosie wasn't upset over Donald giving Tara Conner a second change and not taking her crown away. She was upset that Donald Trump acted like he was the person to judge what's right and wrong. Considering his lifestyle and things he's done (had affairs, divorces etc.)
A peeved O'Donnell said: "(He) left the first wife – had an affair. (He) had kids both times, but he's the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America. Donald, sit and spin, my friend."
That's probably why Donald gave Tara a second chance anyway. Who is he to say what she was doing (drinking, partying and drugs) was wrong. By doing those things she was violating the "moral" contract she signed when she became Miss USA. They all have to sign that contract to "portray" a wholesome image for the media.

I'm sure Rosie doesn't understand. I can't help but to wonder also if Rosie would ever understand...she kinda strikes me as the "my way or the highway, no second chances" type. It just goes to show you that Donald Trump is a class act, and when Rosie made fun of his decision...and it was his descision to make...his company I mean...it was in poor taste.

Rosie comes across to me as bitter & we know she's opinionated. You're right. Rosie will appreciate second chances later when her kids need one.
As we get older, we tend forget the stupid choices we've made & the dumb things we did. Hopefully, we learned from the mistakes we made & are going to make.

I really think Rosie did it for the ratings. Honestly, I'm sick of hearing what Rosie thinks. I wish she would just stay off the air. Just because you're famous, doesn't mean that people want to hear your opinion on every subject. I really think that Rosie just attacks people so that her and her lousy show will get some attention. Rosie, if you see this - Get off the air and get on the Jenny Craig diet!

All she was saying is that Trump doesn't have the right to make moral judgements on people. He is a very immoral person. She wasn't saying the girl didn't deserve a second chance, just that trump isn't the one who should be making that decision.

I totally agree, except that the winner of a beauty pageant like Miss USA is supposed to be a "role model" for young women. Maybe walking around half dressed, being judged in a cattle show isn't really a great role model to aspire to, but that supposedly wholesome, clean living image the winner was supposed to personify made it not as totally stupid as it would have been otherwise, or is now.

Rosie O'Donnell had some fiery words for Donald Trump on The View Wednesday morning, calling him a "snake-oil salesman" following his announcement that he would not fire troubled Miss USA Tara Conner.
After hearing about her comments, Trump fired back to PEOPLE, calling her "a woman out of control" and saying he planned to sue O'Donnell over her statements questioning his financial well-being.
"You can't make false statements," Trump tells PEOPLE exclusively. "Rosie will rue the words she said. I'll most likely sue her for making those false statements – and it'll be fun. Rosie's a loser. A real loser. I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice fat little Rosie."
The battle began on Wednesday's show, when a peeved O'Donnell said: "(He) left the first wife – had an affair. (He) had kids both times, but he's the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America. Donald, sit and spin, my friend."
O'Donnell, who impersonated Trump by deepening her voice and flipping her hair to one side, aimed her criticism at his comment from the Tuesday press conference that, "I've always been a believer in second chances. Tara is good person. Tara has tried hard. Tara is going to be given a second chance."
Conner, who just turned 21, will go to rehab but keep her crown, following reports of alleged drug and alcohol abuse. A grateful Conner apologized for her behavior at the press conference, and she thanked Trump for his compassion.
But O'Donnell was not as touched. After repeatedly saying she "didn't enjoy him," Rosie discussed Trump's finances – saying he went bankrupt, which Trump denies – and likened him to the "snake-oil salesman on Little House On The Prairie. This is not a self-made man," O'Donnell said.
And while O'Donnell and her View co-hosts discussed Conner's alleged drug and alcohol abuse, Rosie was dismissive, saying, "She went out and she was partying – doing what Paris and Lindsay do."
She also turned her wrath toward the Miss USA organization itself. "Miss America is the prestige," she said. "Miss USA is a different thing. It's basically a model competition. Let's be realistic."
Trump's response? "She talked about the Miss USA contest, which has terrific ratings on NBC. Miss America got thrown off of network television! It's (on cable), where nobody watches it," he said, countering her statements. "And my father never gave me tons of money."
He also thinks Rosie's rant against him was personal. Trump says he once sarcastically chastised Rosie about her "failed magazine" and "failed talk show." Added The Donald: "I think she's just terrible."
Overall its just because she thought miss usa didn't deserve a second chance
