There is a drain pan under the fridge. When your fridge goes into auto defrost mode it melts the ice on the sides of the freezer walls. The water should run down to the pan under the fridge. The heat from the motor/compressor and the air from the fan evaporate the water. I'd check a couple of things first make sure that you have a pan, make sure you have airflow to the pan, and if it is a side by side fridge / freezer make sure it isn't running out the bottom of the freezer door. If this is the case then your drain line is clogged. If you will post some more info I'll check back. pull the grill off the front of the fridge and see what you can find out!

I have a GE Monogram built-in side by side, about 7-8 yrs old. It has started to drip in the back, behind the icemaker. Getting iced up along the left wall and down the long light fixture. Where do I look to defrost it? Can't pull it out. Also for about a month or so I have been getting a whistle sound after I close the freezer door. I have been constantly checking the temperature for almost a week now and it is running warm...up almost to 10 degrees sometimes, hard getting it to stay 0-2 degrees. Help!

There should probably be a drip pan. The cooling componants will sometimes have moisture build up on the outside of them, and it will drip off. Also, if you have a fridge that is frost-free, it runs a defrost cycle every so often, and that will produce moisture.

The auto defrost will cause water to go to a holding area where it evaporates. There may be a leak in the tray under the refrigerator.

you may need to replace your worn door gaskets. when air gets inside the fridge this causes moister buildup in the form of water around the front of the fridge.sometimes you can raise the front legs slightly and this will make the box tilt towards the back and shift the weight of the doors rearward forcing the gaskets to fit tighter up against the fridge, hope this helps

I would bet it is the self-defrost feature. And most have a drip pan underneath.

most likely, the catch pan for the defrost system is leaky or non existant.
