Why did they cancel DEADWOOD?

This was a good show,had a loyal fan base, and it just fades off in the sunset why?

Deadwood was not cancelled, but it is not having another season either. There will be a pair of two-hour shows that will conclude the series. There is no air date as of now. Please click on this link to read the article...
